Project #1

For those that do read the blogg. I am going to give you a break. The project #1 must be in the drawer in the lab by Tuesday 12:30pm. This means you can come Saturday and finish up your project.


The benefit of turning it in Thursday end of class will be extra credit will be awarded to those turning it in on time.

Reminder

You will need to turn in all your work at the end of the semester in a 3-ring binder. Please be sure to hang on to all your work.

Assignment #2

Assignment #2                                    Due: Feb 5th    


 

Expose 1 roll of film

    Photograph anything that moves.


 

What you will do:

    Find an object or objects that move or make them move. Find a correct light meter reading that will give you a shutter speed higher than 60th of a second. Bracket your f-stops if at all possible.

    Take the same object or objects and photograph them with a shutter speed of at least 30th of a second and set the aperture to what the light meter tells you is the proper f-stop and then bracket expose the aperture.


 

Make sure everything is in focus, use auto-focus or use the focus ring to focus the frame. Take notes on everything you do.    


What you will turn in:

1 8x10 contact sheet of the exposed negatives

1 8x10 or smaller print from a negative of your choice

Create at minimum 4 images that contain four emotions symbolically. What this means is that each image will be a different image represented either by objects, landscapes or things that do not contain any direct description to the emotion. NO DIRECT PORTRAITS ON EMOTION.

The symbolic image must be created with the use of light to obtain desired emotion along with the scene or subject(s). People can be used in the image but not as a direct one on one portrait.


 

Technical –

4 min - 8x10 prints mounted and displayed as shown in class

Each image must be properly printed as demonstrated in class and areas that need dodging and burning must be completed as well.

Written Assignment Due: Feb 3, 2009

    Write at least one page double spaced, 12pt font on what is a symbolic image and your four emotional symbolic ideas for your first project. If you are having difficulties feel free to email me or post your questions on the blog. Remember there is the internet to do the research and the library has a collection of books. Due at the beginning of class.
